So you think you want to work in a casino? CCAC is pleased to offer casino dealer training classes through a partnership with Rivers Casino. By completing our training course, you can obtain the skills you need to join the exciting casino gaming industry.

Since opening in February 2016, CCAC's Casino Dealer School has been training casino employees as well as those seeking employment in the casino industry. Together, CCAC and Rivers Casino have created a strong partnership to provide casino training in a variety of table games. The school is approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and is recognized by all casinos in the state as well as some out-of-state casinos. Students in the entry-level course receive 120 hours of training in blackjack and banked games, including several poker derivative games. Individuals who successfully complete the course are eligible to work as a dealer. In addition, students are auditioned as part of the curriculum, which boosts their chances of securing a position.

We’ve identified 11 states where the typical salary for a Casino Dealer job is above the national average. Topping the list is Hawaii, with Massachusetts and Rhode Island close behind in second and third. Rhode Island beats the national average by 8.6%, and Hawaii furthers that trend with another $5,127 (12.1%) above the $39,777.

Dealer School & Employment Available

The Rivers Casino will interview and select Dealer School Students for this class. Approved recipients will have their tuition paid in full to attend the dealer school training Students that successfully complete dealer school training and pass the game audition process will be offered a part-time Table Games Dealer position with Rivers Casino. Westmoreland’s dealer training is approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

During your training you will learn how to deal Blackjack and other banked card games. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to deal additional games.

Upon successful completion, you will earn a Westmoreland Continuing Education certificate and will be eligible to audition as a dealer at any casino in Pennsylvania.

What Courses Will I Need to Complete?

  • Blackjack and other banked card games:
    • Class is 100 hours
    • You must successfully complete Blackjack to progress to other games
  • Carnival Games (Criss Cross Poker, Spanish 21, Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Mississippi Stud, Let it Ride):
    • Carnival games is 40 hours
  • Additional games will be offered. Each casino has minimum game requirements.

What is Common Criteria to be a Dealer?

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid license by the PA Gaming Control Board, which includes a background check
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must have basic math skills to calculate without assistance, manual dexterity, color perception, and the ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
  • Be trained in a minimum number of games (varies by casino)
  • Successfully pass an audition
  • Be able to work in an environment with exposure to alcohol, cigarette and cigar smoke, bright lights and loud noises
